"Addressing disparities in the community is crucial to creating safer environments for all Brooklyn Park residents. We must all work together to create social cohesion."

TEKOA COCHRAN

Tekoa has a deep passion, love, and concern for our community, especially for those who are underrepresented or who struggle. Her background includes community resourcing, mental health, and evidence-based best practice.

The Village BP was founded in 2021 to address housing disparities, violence, and other tenant concerns within Huntington Place Apartments in Brooklyn Park. Through community events and partnerships with BP's public safety departments, commissions, and other community groups, Tekoa built strong relationships and conditions improved.

With her proven model, the Village BP will continue to partner with other organizations to provide violence interruption services to the City of Brooklyn Park.
